If you were injured by an at-fault driver with little or no insurance, you could be stuck with high hospital and other bills. California only requires drivers to have a minimum $15,000 insurance policy. However, if you have a substantial under/uninsured policy, then your insurance company should cover your costs up to your policy limit. So, the better policy you have, the more you are protected.
The insurance adjuster will try to get you to settle quickly to avoid paying more later. Sometimes injuries can take time to manifest, so if you settle too early, then you will not be able to go back and ask for more money. You also have very little to lose if you let NK Law Group review and negotiate your current offer for you. You'll likely end up in a much better situation and you won't feel like you left money on the table.
You can still make a claim against the at-fault driver for your injuries and losses.  If that insurance policy does not cover all your losses, then you can also utilize the underinsured motorist (UIM) insurance policy from the driver of the vehicle you were in. You also can utilize the UIM policy on your auto insurance if you have it. If the driver of your vehicle was the at-fault party, then you can make a claim against your driver if you were injured.
